FIM Operation Technician

Oil & Gas Offshore - Netherlands €6,000 - €7,500 Per Month
2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Akira Energy is looking for an experienced FIM Operation Technician for an offshore oil & gas operator in the Netherlands.

This is a varied operational position combining offshore intervention work, team leadership and control room operations. You will support both planned campaigns and ad-hoc interventions across offshore production facilities in the Dutch North Sea, including Normally Unmanned Installations (NUIs).

The initial requirement is for an offshore campaign running until approximately mid-November 2026. Following this campaign, there is a potential opportunity to continue onshore during the winter period, supporting the preparation of future offshore interventions.

The Role

As FIM Operation Technician, you will work within a Flying Squad responsible for first-line operational interventions across offshore production facilities.

During offshore interventions, you will take a leading operational role. You will coordinate a small multidisciplinary team, operate from the local control room, oversee the safe execution of work and act as the key link between the offshore team, Central Control Room (CCR) and onshore organisation.

The wider FIM role also includes Central Control Room activities, monitoring offshore assets through ICSS, identifying developing process or technical issues and supporting remote operational interventions.

During periods onshore, the role can involve preparing complete campaign scopes for upcoming offshore interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a small intervention team during offshore campaigns and ad-hoc interventions.
  • Independently support interventions on Normally Unmanned Installations.
  • Operate from the local control room and coordinate the response to technical and operational issues.
  • Monitor and operate production and process installations.
  • Support safe start-up, shutdown, isolation and reinstatement of process systems.
  • Validate and coordinate Permits to Work for activities performed under your operational responsibility.
  • Coordinate closely with the CCR and relevant onshore organisation throughout interventions and campaigns.
  • Monitor offshore assets through ICSS and identify developing process or technical issues.
  • Support first-line troubleshooting and, where possible, remote resolution of operational issues.
  • Prepare operational scopes for planned offshore campaigns and interventions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on HSSEQ and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Provide clear operational reporting and communicate abnormalities, support requirements and completed activities.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a mature and experienced operations professional who is comfortable taking responsibility in both offshore and control room environments.

You ideally bring:

  • MBO Level 4 or an equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years in an operations responsible role.
  • Strong Oil & Gas production and field operations experience.
  • Proven offshore operational experience, preferably involving Normally Unmanned Installations.
  • Experience leading or coordinating operational teams during offshore interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of process operations, Permit to Work, isolations and safe systems of work.
  • Experience with Central Control Room and ICSS/DCS operations.
  • Good knowledge of HSSEQ practices and operational procedures.
  • A calm and decisive approach when dealing with operational or technical issues.
  • Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with offshore and onshore stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • Valid offshore certification and medical clearance relevant to the assignment.
  • Availability at short notice.

Experience with SAP or other ERP systems and digital work preparation tools is an advantage.

Potential Winter Extension – Work Preparation

Following completion of the offshore campaign, there may be an opportunity to continue in an onshore Work Preparation role during the winter period.

This would involve preparing future campaign scopes and offshore interventions, including operational activities, permits, isolations, materials and coordination with the relevant technical disciplines.

Candidates who combine hands-on offshore operations experience with campaign preparation, planning or work preparation experience will therefore be particularly relevant.
