Job Description

Akira Energy is looking for experienced Deckpushers for one of our relations, working offshore on production platforms in the North Sea.

The Deckpusher is responsible for supervising the deck crew and coordinating safe and efficient deck operations on an offshore production installation. This includes cargo handling, lifting operations, supply vessel operations, housekeeping, deck maintenance, and the safe movement and storage of materials and equipment.
The Deckpusher acts as the front-line supervisor for deck personnel and ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with platform procedures, permit-to-work requirements, lifting plans, HSE standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Deck Operations

  • Supervise daily deck activities on the production platform.
  • Coordinate cargo handling, supply vessel operations, loading and backloading activities.
  • Ensure safe movement, storage, and securing of materials, tools, chemicals, containers, and equipment.
  • Maintain clear communication with crane operators, banksmen, vessel crews, logistics teams, and platform management.
  • Monitor weather, sea state, and operational conditions before and during deck activities.
  • Ensure deck areas remain clean, organized, and free from unnecessary hazards.
     

Lifting and Rigging

  • Supervise lifting and rigging operations in line with approved lift plans and site procedures.
  • Ensure all lifting gear, slings, shackles, containers, baskets, and cargo units are inspected, certified, and fit for use.
  • Establish and maintain exclusion zones during lifting operations.
  • Confirm that banksmen, slingers, and deck crew understand their roles, signals, and communication requirements.
  • Stop any lifting or deck operation that is unsafe or outside approved limits.

Team Supervision

  • Lead, organize, and monitor the work of roustabouts and deck crew.
  • Allocate daily work tasks and ensure they are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and job safety discussions.
  • Coach and support junior crew members in safe deck practices, rigging, manual handling, and platform housekeeping.
  • Maintain a professional and safety-focused working environment.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce and adhere all applicable HSE requirements.
  • Work in accordance with permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, lifting procedures, and platform rules.
  • Identify hazards and ensure suitable control measures are in place before work starts.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, incidents, and near misses.
  • Participate in safety meetings, emergency drills, and platform emergency response duties as required.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

  • Oversee deck cleaning, preservation, painting, and basic maintenance activities.
  • Ensure deck equipment, tools, cargo areas, laydown areas, and walkways are maintained in good condition.
  • Monitor rigging equipment, deck tools, consumables, and safety equipment.
  • Support planned and corrective maintenance activities where deck crew assistance is required.
     

Documentation and Handover

  • Complete or verify daily deck reports, cargo movement records, inspection checklists, and handover notes.
  • Support preparation of permits, toolbox talk records, and task risk assessments.
  • Ensure defects, outstanding tasks, and operational issues are clearly communicated during shift handover.
     

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous offshore experience in deck operations on production platforms, offshore installations, or marine environments.
  • Proven experience supervising deck crew, roustabouts, riggers, or lifting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore lifting operations, rigging, cargo handling, and deck safety.
  • Valid offshore survival certification, such as BOSIET or FOET.
  • Valid offshore medical certificate.
  • Banksman/slinger or rigging certification preferred.
  • Experience with permit-to-work systems and risk assessments preferred.
  • North Sea offshore experience is an advantage.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in changing offshore conditions.
  • Good situational awareness around cranes, moving loads, vessels, and deck equipment.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work as part of a multi-discipline offshore team.

Working Conditions

  • Offshore rotational work in the North Sea.
  • Work performed on offshore production platforms in a safety-critical environment.
  • Exposure to weather, noise, moving equipment, lifting operations, vessel activity, and marine conditions.
  • Day or night shift work may be required depending on operational needs.
  • Participation in platform emergency response duties and drills may be required.
