Project Engineer

Wind Energy Utrecht - Netherlands €3,500 - €4,250 Per Month
Full time
For an international organisation active in the offshore wind industry, we are looking for a Project Engineer – Offshore to join its team in Utrecht, the Netherlands. In this role, you will be involved in the preparation, coordination and execution of inspection, maintenance and repair projects across offshore wind farms.

Based from the Utrecht office, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, offshore technicians, suppliers, subcontractors and clients. While your primary base will be in the Netherlands, the projects have an international scope, involving teams and partners across the Netherlands, Germany, other European countries and occasionally further afield.

The organisation provides inspection, maintenance and repair services for offshore wind turbines and Balance of Plant assets, including foundations, cable systems and subsea structures. Due to continued growth and several long-term projects, the team in the Netherlands is expanding.

The Position

As Project Engineer – Offshore, you will play an important role in ensuring offshore activities are technically and operationally well prepared. You will coordinate different aspects of the projects and act as a key link between the project organisation, offshore teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.

The position combines technical project preparation with planning, procurement, budget control and operational coordination. It is therefore well suited to someone who enjoys working in a technical environment while also taking responsibility for organisation and project execution.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing work methods, work instructions and risk assessments;

  • Preparing and coordinating offshore inspection, maintenance and repair activities;

  • Procuring materials and equipment, including preparing RFQs, comparing quotations and selecting suppliers;

  • Selecting and contracting suitable subcontractors;

  • Preparing and coordinating detailed project schedules with clients, suppliers and subcontractors;

  • Managing and optimising personnel and vessel planning during offshore campaigns;

  • Adjusting operational plans based on weather conditions and project developments;

  • Preparing budget calculations and monitoring project expenditure;

  • Supporting variation orders and additional work requests;

  • Preparing progress reports and inspection reports for clients;

  • Supporting offshore operations and, where required, providing operational support on site;

  • Ensuring that safety, quality, health and environmental standards are incorporated throughout project preparation and execution.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your own area of technical expertise and contribute to the continued growth of the organisation’s offshore activities.

Your Profile

We are looking for a practical and organised Project Engineer who takes ownership and is comfortable switching between technical and organisational responsibilities.

You do not need to have experience in every aspect of offshore wind. A solid technical background, relevant project experience and the motivation to further develop within the offshore wind industry are equally important.

Ideally, you bring:

  • A completed technical education at MBO+ or HBO level, for example in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable discipline;

  • Relevant professional experience within a technical or project-based environment;

  • Experience within offshore, maritime or industrial projects is considered a strong advantage;

  • A practical, proactive and solution-oriented approach;

  • Experience with inspection activities involving steel structures, coatings or similar disciplines is an advantage;

  • Strong organisational and communication skills;

  • The ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders;

  • Good command of both Dutch and English, written and spoken;

  • A strong awareness of safety, quality, health and environmental requirements;

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook;

  • A valid driving licence (category B).

What We Offer

You will join an international offshore environment while having the Netherlands as your permanent base. The position offers a varied combination of technical responsibilities, project coordination and direct involvement in offshore operations.

You can expect:

  • A one-year contract with the intention to move towards permanent employment;

  • 25 annual leave days and 13 additional ADV days;

  • A monthly working-from-home allowance;

  • Travel allowance;

  • Company laptop and mobile phone;

  • A varied and independent position within a growing international organisation;

  • Opportunities for professional development, training and further education;

  • Regular team activities and project celebrations;

  • The opportunity to contribute directly to offshore wind projects and the wider energy transition.
