Offshore Radio Operator / Medic

Job Description

Akira Energy is looking for an experienced Offshore Radio Operator / Medic to support our offshore projects in the North Sea. In this combined role, you will be responsible for first-line medical care on board, daily radio and switchboard communications, helicopter flight watch duties, and a range of operational and administrative support activities.

You will play a key role in maintaining safe and efficient offshore operations by supporting personnel welfare, coordinating movements of people and freight, maintaining communication channels, and assisting during routine and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

As an Offshore Radio Operator / Medic, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing first-line medical care to ill or injured personnel on board, including consultation with an onshore physician when required.

  • Maintaining medical records, daily medical logs, R.M.A. records, opiates registers, medical equipment, and medicine stock in line with applicable offshore requirements.

  • Performing safety inductions for new arrivals and pre-flight safety briefings for departing personnel.

  • Informing personnel about platform house rules, safety procedures, muster stations, lifeboats, cabins, bunks, and lockers.

  • Maintaining the Persons on Board system, muster lists, bed plans, and relevant crew movement records.

  • Supporting roster and helicopter planning in cooperation with the planning and scheduling team.

  • Keeping radio watch during daytime operations on relevant VHF, UHF, DSC, and airband frequencies.

  • Maintaining communication equipment and ensuring effective radio room operations.

  • Monitoring vessel movements around offshore assets and maintaining VHF communications as required.

  • Monitoring helicopter movements and coordinating passenger, freight, payload, and weather information.

  • Preparing passenger and cargo manifests, including backload cargo documentation in line with IMO IMDG requirements.

  • Supporting the Offshore Installation Manager or platform leadership during emergency situations by maintaining communications with coastguard, emergency teams, vessels, and other relevant parties.

  • Preparing weekly safety drill reports and supporting safety meetings, including meeting minutes.

  • Preparing monthly exposure hours, training hours, POB reporting, helicopter cost reports, and related operational administration.

  • Supporting purchase order requests and work order feedback in maintenance management systems.

  • Maintaining stock levels for stationary and operational supplies.

  • Supporting emergency preparedness refresher planning and maintaining personnel training records and function matrices.

  • Performing hygiene checks and monitoring food storage, food preparation, potable water quality, and Legionella control measures in accordance with applicable protocols.

Qualifications and Training

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Valid Offshore BOSIET Incl. HUET + CA-EBS certificate

  • Nursing qualification or equivalent medical qualification accepted under offshore medical requirements.

  • MARCOM-A certification.

  • NOGEPA 2.11 Offshore Medic.

  • NOGEPA 0.8 H2S Introduction.

  • NOGEPA 2.10 Calamity Control.

  • VOP and ATEX introduction.

  • Flight watch training.

  • IMO IMDG training.

  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Experience with offshore POB, planning, or maintenance systems is an advantage.

Experience and Skills

We are looking for a professional who has:

  • Experience as a Radio Operator, preferably within offshore installations or the merchant navy.

  • Relevant experience as a medic or paramedic.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • A structured and accurate approach to administration and reporting.

  • Good situational awareness and the ability to coordinate multiple operational activities.

  • A proactive mindset and a strong commitment to offshore safety standards.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary offshore team.
