Barge Master

Akira Energy is looking for 2 experienced Barge Masters for an upcoming offshore geotechnical campaign in the Netherlands, with 1 position on day shift and 1 on night shift.

This is a hands-on leadership role for Barge Masters with experience overseeing jack-up barge operations, supervising offshore crews and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of marine activities.

The Role

As Barge Master, you will oversee daily or night-time operations onboard a jack-up accommodation barge, coordinating crew activities and supporting the safe execution of offshore geotechnical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee operations onboard the jack-up accommodation barge.

• Lead and supervise the crew involved in the offshore campaign.

• Coordinate activities with project stakeholders.

• Ensure the safe execution of marine and geotechnical operations.

• Monitor compliance with HSE procedures and operational requirements.

• Coordinate barge movements, positioning and jack-up operations where applicable.

• Act as the main operational point of contact onboard.

Requirements & Certifications

• Proven experience as a Barge Master, preferably on jack-up barges.

• Strong background in offshore marine operations.

• Experience supervising offshore crews and coordinating contractors.

• Familiarity with geotechnical or offshore survey operations is an advantage.

• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

• Valid STCW certification.

• Valid offshore medical certificate.

• GWO Boat Landing certification.

• Good command of English.

• Availability for a 2–3 week offshore assignment.
