Department Overview
You will be joining a maintenance and reliability team supporting offshore gas production assets in the Dutch North Sea. Working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain teams, you will play a key role in preparing and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical mechanical equipment.
Position Summary
The Mechanical Work Preparator is responsible for preparing and coordinating maintenance work for offshore mechanical equipment. Acting as the link between offshore execution and onshore support, you will develop detailed work packages, coordinate resources and materials, and ensure maintenance activities are planned safely, efficiently, and in line with operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Work Preparation & Planning
- Prepare detailed work packages for mechanical maintenance activities.
- Define the scope of work, required resources, materials, and external services.
- Develop maintenance plans that ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
- Identify shutdown requirements and support maintenance planning activities.
- Ensure work packages are complete and ready for safe execution.
Technical Coordination
- Diagnose equipment issues in collaboration with offshore technicians and engineering teams.
- Review technical drawings, manuals, and documentation to develop effective maintenance solutions.
- Coordinate with operations, planners, vendors, contractors, and supply chain teams to ensure materials and resources are available.
- Monitor work package progress and support scheduling activities.
Offshore Support
- Conduct regular offshore visits to support maintenance execution when required.
- Liaise with offshore personnel to improve work preparation and maintenance processes.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with maintenance and HSE procedures.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance planning and execution.
Function Requirements
- MBO or HBO qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Work Preparator or Mechanical Maintenance Technician within the oil & gas, offshore, or process industry.
- Experience preparing mechanical maintenance work packages using SAP or a similar maintenance management system.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance methods, equipment, and safety-critical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, P&IDs, and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques is advantageous.
- Strong planning, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Fluent in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
- Willing and medically fit to travel offshore on a regular basis.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting offshore production facilities or gas processing assets.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary maintenance activities and shutdowns.
- Experience working with maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability processes.
- Knowledge of offshore permit-to-work systems.
