Akira Energy is looking for Senior Service Technicians to join our clients offshore maintenance team in IJmuiden.
 

We are looking for experienced professionals with strong technical capabilities and a proactive approach to ensure safe and efficient turbine operations.

Position Overview
The Senior Service Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and high-performance operation of Vestas V80 turbines located offshore from IJmuiden. You will carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and serve as a technical reference point for junior technicians. Working in small, close-knit offshore teams, you help maintain the performance, safety and operational integrity of the wind farm.
Depending on your residence and preference, the work rotation can be 14/14 or 7/7. Accommodation is provided for technicians living outside the IJmuiden area.

Project Details
•           Offshore wind farm with Vestas V80 Mk1–5 turbines in the North Sea.
•           Daily vessel transfer ( 2 hours per direction).
•           Workdays of 12 hours including travel time.
•           On-site teams of 6–12 technicians operating in a highly coordinated environment.
•           Strong emphasis on safety, collaboration and adherence to offshore procedures.
•           Long-term project with clear development and progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
•           Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems of Vestas V80 turbines.
•           Diagnose and resolve faults across electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components.
•           Conduct advanced troubleshooting, including inverter diagnostics, high-level electrical fault identification and hydraulic system repairs (e.g., pitch cylinder replacement).
•           Repair or replace components and ensure all work meets technical and safety standards.
•           Lead and execute medium-to-complex corrective maintenance tasks independently.
•           Perform formal safety inspections and ensure all team members adhere to strict safety protocols.
•           Guide, mentor and support junior technicians during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
•           Document all work accurately in accordance with project procedures.
•           Ensure operations comply with offshore regulations and internal safety rules.
•           Contribute to a strong team culture built around safety, quality and collaboration.

Qualifications
•           Completed vocational education (MBO level 3 or 4) in a technical field.
•           Electrically Qualified Person (VP) certification.
•           High Voltage (HV) switching qualification (VP NV).
•           Completed WTG Vestas Basic + Vestas Level 1 & 2 training.
•           Ideally 3+ years of experience working with Vestas V80 turbines (Mk1–5).
•           Valid GWO certificates + offshore medical (or willingness to obtain).
•           NEN 3140 certification and preferably supplemented with NEN 3840 (or willingness to obtain).
•           VCA-VOL certificate (or willingness to obtain).
•           Valid driving licence (B).
•           Strong command of English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
•           Comfortable working at heights and in offshore environments.
•           Residing in the IJmuiden region or willing to travel and stay in project-provided accommodation during shifts.

Skills
•           Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities across electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
•           Proven capability to lead corrective maintenance tasks independently.
•           Ability to make decisions confidently and ensure work quality meets project standards.
•           Understanding of turbine safety concepts and implementation of safety protocols.
•           Experience performing or supporting main component exchanges is highly valued.
•           Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially in offshore environments.
•           Resilience, initiative and a proactive mindset.
