Akira Energy is looking for a Rig Manager.

Purpose of the job

Planning, preparing, operating and organising all resources and services to ensure timely, safe and efficient operation execution. The responsibility for the day to day performance of the assigned jack-ups has a direct impact on the client satisfaction and the financial result of the company.

Position in the organisation

  • Reports directly to the Operations Director
  • Provides direct guidance to the Vessel Management Team (OIM, Maintenance Supervisor/Toolpusher, Barge Supervisor/technical team)
  • Supported by Engineering and Asset Integrity, Crewing, QHSE, Procurement and Financial

 

Operational responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the planning, organization, supervision and execution of the assigned Operations, Mobilizations and Modifications. This in accordance with applicable standards, company management system, client requirements, local authorities regulations, contractual obligations and planned maintenance system.
  • Is responsible for for the full Operating budget and actual expenditures for the unit(s) under management (crew opex, technical opex, operations opex) as set per project or annually.
  • Is responsible for the implementation and execution of the charter party contract(s).
  • Prepares adequately and attends Client meetings, Kick off meetings, Safety meetings, Operation meetings, Close-out meetings etc.
  • Liaise with the unit on the charter/operation preparations and ensure all operation procedures and drawings are discussed with the Vessel Management Team before start of the operation.
  • Is responsible for the variation request management to the client.
  • Liaison with Client on contractual, commercial technical and operational issues.
  • Managing Subcontractors on contractual, commercial, technical and operational issues.
  • Performs interdisciplinary checks on unit modifications, operation specific and general installation procedures.
  • Manages port calls and mobilisations of the units in preparation of the offshore executions and manages all onshore support to the units during executions of the offshore work or charter period including progress reports.
  • Managing the operations can be done as from the base office or when necessary from the location the barges are stationed.
  • Implementation of operation Health & Safety Plans during preparation and execution of the operations.
  • Operations are closely monitored, problems are anticipated and solved, solutions are created to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
  • Performs regularly inspections on board of the units assigned and verifies the effectiveness of the maintenance system. Reports his findings to the Operations Director and Engineering and Asset Integrity Manager and advises on necessary improvements by Management of Change procedure.
  • Ensures correct technical information of the systems of the unit are kept in the data base used for the planned/preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Prepares, manages and closes annual mandatory inspections by Classification Society Flag State and related activities of necessary third parties and other inspections resulting from local regulations or preventative maintenance on time.
  • Selecting, assessing of the crew including review sessions on the Core Team.
  • Facilitate the constant improvements process on safety behaviour, monitor the safety performance of the unit and identify areas of improvement.
  • Providing tender/commercial input as requested for new opportunities.
  • Safe guards the general and contractual interests of the company.

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to JUBO and Client Safety Management system
  • Safety objectives set by JUBO and Client are met and all accidents, near miss incidents and considerable damages are comprehensively investigated with a view to initiating improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensures that Risk Assessments are performed for all scope of work related activities
  • Fully respects the environment and thinks in terms of sustainability

 

Leadership/Coaching activities

  • Personnel are managed in accordance with JUBO (personnel) policies and procedures.
  • Assures that personnel demonstrate their commitment to safety by adhering to all safety related policies, procedures, programs and written instructions.
  • Assures that performance appraisals are carried out in the time set.
  • Regular communication is maintained with offshore personnel advising them of JUBO’s objectives, development, new opportunities etc. as well as maintain the open door policy to discuss or resolve any problems.

Acountabilities

  • JUBO’s contractual interests are to be known and always considered.
  • Accountable for successful execution of the overall operational management and service delivery of the assigned jack-up barge(s), according applicable standards, regulations, contract, JUBO’s management system and planned maintenance system.
  • The frame work of this actions consists of all applicable laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures as described in the JUBO’s Management System and Responsibility Matrix.
  • Takes decisions in the planning, coordination, budget and execution of the operations.
  • Operates within the budget for operations or idle status.

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong Operational and Technical background supported with relevant qualifications, Bsc/Msc Nautical degree, Offshore Engineering, Maroff, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar job in the offshore or marine environment with a proven track record in the MOU Industry.
  • Knowledge of the applicable items of the corporate management system and general operation management: contract management (BIMCO); financial and administration management, QHSE, personnel and planning, procurement & logistics, deck management, operation management, maintenance management.
  • Has knowledge of Jack-Up Barges specific operation management instructions and manuals and is able to perform accordingly if required
  • Master good communication skills in Dutch and English
  • Good level of computer literacy
