About the Role
Akira Energy is looking for several experienced Offshore Mechanics to support our project team on the Shell Crux Project in Australia. In this position, you will be responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment used in offshore construction and drilling activities.
You will work in a multidisciplinary offshore team, ensuring that all mechanical systems are operating safely, efficiently and in accordance with project standards, client specifications and relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic equipment used in offshore construction and drilling operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults on engines, pumps, compressors, winches, drilling equipment and related systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and equipment specifications.
- Support the commissioning, start-up and testing of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, record findings and report defects or potential issues in a timely manner.
- Cooperate closely with Supervisors, Engineers and other disciplines to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures, client requirements and relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including proper use and storage of tools and spare parts.
Mandatory Certifications
- OGUK Offshore Medical Certification (valid).
- OPITO BOSIET including HUET + CA-EBS (valid).
Requirements
- A valid work permit for Australia (must).
- Proven experience as an Offshore Mechanic or in a similar role within offshore construction and/or drilling.
- Valid Offshore Medical Certificate and BOSIET + HUET incl. CA-EBS as listed above.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of drilling equipment.
- Strong ability to understand and work from engineering plans and technical specifications.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging weather conditions and rough seas.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills in an international environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality standards and environmental regulations.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Experience with automated drilling systems.
- Previous leadership experience (e.g. Lead Mechanic, Acting Supervisor) in an offshore environment
