Job Description

For our client, we are actively seeking a Senior Operations Technician E&I within the Integrated Gas and Upstream business unit.

Our client is divided into two Assets: Oneshore and ONEgas. ONEgas, a significant player in the UK and NL gas markets, covers all offshore gas fields in the Southern North Sea within our clients assets. It is a technically and commercially complex asset with a comprehensive portfolio, spanning exploration, greenfield and brownfield projects, to abandonment activities.

Geographically, ONEgas operates in the Southern North Sea in NL and the UK, with pipeline systems connecting to the Bacton gas plant in the UK and the Den Helder gas plant in the NL.

ONEgas/Den Helder is actively preparing for Energy Transition opportunities in the (near) future.

The Den Helder Gas Treatment Installation (GBI) comprises three plants: Hical, Local, NOGAT, and a common system for Water Condensate handling. This includes 9 gas treatment trains, condensate fractionation, storage and loading facilities (Jetty), Freon cooling units, H2S treatment, a Local gas compressor, offgas compressors, and common utilities.

Senior Operations Technician E/I


Acts as a role model for HSE behavior, including reporting and follow-up of (potential) incidents or unsafe situations. The senior operations technician E/I is responsible for day-to-day electrical and instrumentation activities, ensuring short- and long-term integrity of all electrical and instrumentation installations.

Tasks include:

– Monitoring the electrical and instrumentation status of installations to ensure contractual deliveries.
– Overseeing the preparation, safe execution, and closeout of all electrical and instrumentation activities on the plant GBI.
– Methodical investigations (using 5WHY) of production breakdowns, upsets, trips, or outages to prevent recurrence.
– Electrical and instrumentation reviews for Maintenance, Projects, Modifications, and Shutdowns, including the review/preparation of Electrical safeguarding plans.
– Contributing to the preparation, execution, and delivery of Shutdowns.
– Carrying out or assisting in Electrical Safeguarding of Production systems/equipment.
– Ensuring all electrical and instrumentation activities are executed safely through risk assessment and appropriate mitigations.
– Conducting Electrical and instrumentation Safety rounds and addressing observations.
– Willingness to travel to offshore locations by exception.

Skills and Requirements:

Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and attitude:

– Minimum completion of “MBO4” in the electrical/instrumentation discipline or an equivalent level.
– Approximately 6 years of Operational E/I experience, with crucial experience in gas production/treatment installations.
– Extensive electrical experience (High and Low Voltage systems) within Production and Maintenance.
– Plant-specific knowledge of the gas treatment installation GBI DHR.
– Fulfillment of FLBM requirements for this role before job commencement.
– Positive attitude and ability to stimulate positivity in others.
– Good interpersonal and communication skills, and a team player.
– Fluency in Dutch is essential for this position.
– The candidate should live within approximately 1 hour of driving from the Den Helder plant.
